Get Your School Involved

Getting students involved in helping children in Tanzania can be a great way for them to learn about another country and real world issues. It also provides them with the opportunity to develop healthy attitudes about money and giving, and to discover their actions can make a difference in the world! Two programs are available that provide both educational and global service opportunities for students in elementary and middle schools.

Set Up A Webpage

Create your own webpage to share your goal of helping the TACODA children with friends, classmates, campus residents and family. Crank up the enthusiasm by offering to run a marathon, climb a rock wall, or participate in tennis competitions, band play-offs, and any other fun activities. Download photographs of the TACODA children for your page and keep track of the money your raise on your page. Just click on the Webpage Fun button above, type in "Jim Arden Foundation" and get started. It's free, fun and helps needy children!

Help Raise Funds

Consider cooking a culturally-themed dinner for your friends and invite them to make  a donation. Hold a garage sale, car wash, or bake sale, advertising that the proceeds will help orphans in Tanzania. Sell tickets to a lunch, brunch, or
cook-out. Work as a team with your company, Scout troop, class, youth group, friends or family.Suggest an alternative to your group’s holiday or other gift exchanges by pooling funds and donating them.

Spread the Word

Telling your family, friends, neighbors, colleagues and fellow alumni all about TACODA and how rewarding it is to help orphaned and abandoned children in Tanzania is the easiest way to help. Your interest and involvement has the potential to excite others. And, if they get involved they will tell their family, friends, etc. So start talking about how TACODA works to help children climb out of poverty everytime you can.

Make In-kind Donations

To a child in need, a pad of paper and a few pencils can make the difference between being able to attend school or missing out on an education. Consider asking your group or organization to help collect school supplies or some of the many other items (such as new or gently-used clothing, books, toiletries, educational toys and art materials) that we can donate to needy children!

Volunteer in Tanzania

If you like to travel, consider volunteering in Tanzania. You can teach English, teach Math, participate in enrichment and sports activities with local school teams, with the TACODA teams, and with the TACODA children. You can also help with repairs and renovations to the TACODA Children’s Center.

Take a Safari with Us

Share the beauty of the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crate and other sites with us as your guide. We will introduce you to Maasai tribesmen as well bushmen and their families. And, spend some time with us at the TACODA Children's Center too.
"I've been involved in worthy causes over the years but none of them have sparked the enthusiasm and joy I feel when I'm helping the TACODA children. Right from the start the smiling faces of the children captured my heart. I’ve also found the hands-on nature of volunteering for TACODA to be energizing.

These children have nothing to take for granted and appreciate everything that is given to them. They are filled with enthusiasm for each new event in their lives, whether it is the arrival of gifts at Christmas, success on the football field, or the arrival of a pair of nesting ravens they discover while working in the yard. Their young lives are filled with wonder and they are truly inspirational."

Creating Better Lives for Tanzanian Children
Coins for Kids Program

COINS FOR KIDS is coin collection competition that provides students with an opportunity not only to understand how disadvantaged children live in Tanzania but a real opportunity to improve the actual lives of these orphaned, abandoned and at-risk children.

Reading to the Rescue Program

READING TO THE RESCUE is designed to be both an educational program and global service opportunity specifically targeted to help some of the more than 2.5 million orphaned and abandoned Tanzanian children. It empowers children by increasing their reading skills and enabling them to see that their actions have importance in the world.

Pennies for Hope Program

PENNIES FOR HOPE is a penny competition program that provides students with the opportunity to better understand the lives of children in Tanzania. It is specifically targeted to help at-risk children in Tanzania, of which there were over 2.5 million last year.

Run, Walk, or Cycle!

Running or walking a marathon (or half-marathon), bicycling from “here to there,” or proving your metal in a triathlon are all great ways to raise money for orphans and at-risk children in Tanzania!

Host a Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner Party

If you love to cook, invite friends, neighbors and acquaintences to breakfast, lunch or dinner for the benefit of  at-risk Tanzanian children. If you want to experiment, consider making an authentic Tanzanian meal and introduce your guests to TACODA and the children we help!

Start a New Gift-Giving Tradition

Make family occasions an even more rewarding experience by adding an opportunity to make a difference in the world!  Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, or reunions can be a chance to teach children or grandchildren about the lives of children in Tanzania and the value of generosity. It can also unite your family or friends in a common charitable goal!

Encourage Giving at the Office

Create a meaningful topic around the office by helping others learn about the needs of orphaned children in Tanzania, while providing the opportunity for you and your fellow co-workers to make a difference together! Maybe your colleagues would like to sponsor a child's education as a group, buy school uniforms for a few students or just make a general contribution of money or children's clothing and shoes. Everything is needed and nothing will go to waste!
